You Forget To Make A Necessities List
It seems like a small mistake in the moment, but as you keep purchasing items like toothpaste, water, RV care items and safety items along the way, it adds up. Convenience stores at rest stops charge convenience-store prices.
Make a list before you leave of all the daily items you will need, and buy them once, at home prices.
You Didn’t Perform A Pre-Trip Checkup
Sometimes the urge to get away makes you want to hop in the RV and just start driving. When that urge hits, at least take the time for a pre-trip checkup: blinkers working, no new leaks or dents on the body, everything as road-ready as you are.
Skip the checkup and you can end up dealing with time-consuming on-road repairs, which puts a serious damper on any trip.
You Don’t Bring A First Aid Kit
No one plans to get injured on vacation, but accidents happen. Cuts, scrapes and even bites from wild animals can quickly lead to costly trips to a pharmacy, or a hospital, if you do not have supplies on hand to care for them yourself.
Be prepared: pack a first aid kit and any other medical supplies your crew might need, and know where it is stowed.
You Didn’t Map Out Your Trip Ahead Of Time
Following where the road takes you is not always the great idea it sounds like. Even with GPS and map apps on every smartphone, it is easier than you think to get lost in an unfamiliar part of the country.
Map out where you plan to go ahead of time so you never risk running out of gas or supplies. If you are set on following the road, at least note the gas stations, convenience stores and places to eat or use the restroom along the way.
